Opstal Range

Sparkling Wine

This crisp and fresh Sparkling was made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Because it was harvested very early on in the vintage the alcohol is nice and low. It is classified as a Sec which means it is dry, but the residual sugar concentration is still high enough to make this a popular bubbly for many different palates.

“Great tropical nose and flavours. Good crisp finish. For me, a very attractive, easy drink with good character.” – Dave Hughes

Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Harvested in cool conditions early in the morning this wine shows a lot of typical Sauvignon Blanc freshness with fruit notes like melon and green apple dominating the nose. A lingering pallet is the result of 5 months of lees contact with the lees stirred up in the tank a few times during the first 2 months.

Chenin Blanc 2009

60% of this Chenin was harvested from 30 year old vines and 40% from a younger 10 year old vineyard. The wine is full bodied, with a high intensity of tropical fruit. It is rich in flavour and complimented by a well-balanced acidity with a smooth & fruity aftertaste.

“With Opstal’s Blush the shiraz is grown and harvested with viognier grapes, and the two are vinified together. In other words, it’s blended in the vineyard. The result is a grown-up wine, loaded with peppery fruit flavours with a clean, dry finish.” – David Biggs
